  Wonewoc-Center Families, We have been notified that November payments for the Supplemental Nutrition
  
  Wonewoc-Center Families,
  
  We have been notified that November payments for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), known as FoodShare in Wisconsin, may be delayed if the government shutdown continues. Students who are eligible for free meals based on their household's participation in FoodShare continue to be eligible for free meals served in the USDA school nutrition programs. When a student is certified for free or reduced price meals they retain their meal eligibility for the entire school year plus up to 30 operating days into the next school year, regardless of a change in household circumstances. Students are always eligible for the best benefit that they qualify for.
  
  For more information about how the shutdown is impacting FoodShare and how to find other sources of food assistance in your area, visit the FoodShare: News for Members webpage.
  
  Additionally, federal employees may submit a Household Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals based on their current household income. This may be zero while furloughed. Complete applications are accepted at face value.
  
  Even if your child will not be participating in school meals, completing the free/reduced application helps determine additional funding for enhanced educational opportunities for your child's school.
  
  We have school organizations collecting food and donating to the local food pantry. Here is a link to area food pantries.

  We have a Food Backpack program for families that qualify through direct certification and free and reduced lunch applications. If you are not currently enrolled in this program, please let us know and we will help you with the information.
